What are your most practical tips for surviving an external audit?

- the night before, refresh with bright paint all yellow and red lines in the shopfloor.

How do you train your people to speak with auditors?

- When asked a closed question, check QM's facial expressions and mirror them in details. When asked an open question, try saying "I do what is requested in the Quality Manual". If it does not work, try "I call for help from my supervisor". If it still doesn't, play possum.

In common way I say the true.

Generally this behaviour arise any light non confomrity but stop the auditor to deep drilling to find worst problems...

Anyway for questions posed to floor workers, they turn your eyes to me with concerned face and I invite them simply to show what they do.

What I normally tell to my people is that the external audit is an opportunity to get feedback, remarks and, why not, nonconformities from and external and qualified point of view.

So, do not loose the opportunity to get value trying to make a theater...

Our target is to get added value from the external audit even if this added value arrives through nonconformities.

My boss normally told us to pay attention to say only what is written on the manual. Actually I prefer not telling nothing special, in my opinion an external (or internal) audit is an occasion to prove how we work.
If we had not do properly some work the auditor will help us to improve our procedures
